Top questions that women ask about doing a boudoir photoshoot
Boudoir Photography - Frequently Asked Questions
The thought of a boudoir session can be scary. When talking to women about their session, I get asked all kinds of questions. So I wanted to compile a list of my 12 most frequently asked questions to give you some insight on preparing for a boudoir experience with Boston Boudoir Photography.
Do you share images?
Our number ONE priority is making sure our clients are comfortable, especially with boudoir. It can be a life changing experience, but that also makes it nerve wracking. Sometimes you are learning how to love your body and you aren’t quite ready to share the images with the world, or these photos are specifically for your partners eyes only. These are all great reasons for not sharing your photos, and it all depends on your personal preferences. If there are photos that we would like to share, we will ask your permission first and only share what you are comfortable with.
Do I have to wear lingerie?
You don’t have to specifically wear lingerie; it depends on your personality. There are a BUNCH of outfit ideas other than lacy little things. Head over to our website or Pinterest page to see some ideas.
Do you have payment plans?
We offer a few payment options. To book you photo shoot, we do require a booking retainer. At this time, we go over package options/rates. If you need more time to be able to pay off your boudoir package, we highly recommend you book your session a couple of months out to be able to start a pre-payment plan prior to your session. We can also extend your payment plan up to four months after your session/ordering appointment.
Is hair and makeup included?
We do offer a team of professional makeup artist at an extra fee. I think it’s important for you to feel pampered, and having your hair and makeup done is a great way to do that. Our amazing team can help you complete your look, whether that’s “I just woke up like this” or “full glam”. You can bring any ideas you want for your makeup, and we can try to use it for inspiration.
Do you Photoshop my images?
We do edit your images for light, exposure, and color balance. If asked I will remove blemishes or lightly soften your skin. Part of the process of accepting yourself and seeing your beauty also means not photoshopping out parts of yourself you don’t like. If there are parts of yourself that you are learning to love and aren’t thrilled about, that is okay. We are skilled at posing and lighting to make you look your absolute best and bring out the shine in you.
Where should I buy outfits?
There are a few places to buy outfits and it depends on what you are getting and the style of your shoot. Here is a list of different style and sizing. Victoria’s Secret, Forever21, Adoreme, Torrid, eberjay.com, aerie, hipsandcurves.com, Amazon.
What type of print products do you have?
We offer a variety of albums, luxury art boxes with mounted prints, metal portraits and much more. There is nothing like the feel of picking up a physical product. Something to look back on and lift your spirits for years to come.
Do you offer digitals?
Most of our album/art box packages include digital files. There is an A La Carte option to add on as well. Digital images are provided in a locked online gallery for you to download.
I’m freaking out! How do I calm my nerves?
Nerves are all part of the experience! I always say that it would probably be weird if you WEREN’T nervous. The nervousness in the beginning of your shoot make the moment of “WOW” when seeing your photos for the first time so much better.
How many outfits should I bring?
This depends on the photo session you choose. Most sessions can have up to three outfits. We always say to bring more if you can’t decide and we will help you pick the day of your shoot.
Should I get to my shoot early?
You should plan on getting to. Your shoot about 10 minutes early so we can talk about your outfits and colors and make a plan for hair and makeup.
Where is your studio located?
We are located in North Reading, MA in a residential area. I’ve run my studio from this location for almost 20 years. There is a 2.5 acre portrait park around my home along with ample studio space situated behind the house.
